Former President Donald Trump has a plan for immigration, and it is a decision that will benefit the nation.
The former president said that he wants to implement a policy that focuses on favoring college graduates for admission into the nation.
“We need brilliant people,” the former president said. “it’s so sad when we lose people from the greatest schools — and lesser schools that are phenomenal also. What I wanted to do… and what I will do is, if you graduate from a college, you should get automatically as part of your diploma, a green card to be able to stay in this country. And that includes junior colleges too.”
“If you graduate or get a doctorate, you should be able to stay in this country,” he said. “I know stories where people graduated… from a college, and they desperately wanted to stay here, they had a plan for a company, a product, and they can’t. They go back to India or China and do the same basic company in those places and become multi-billionaires, employ thousands and thousands of people, and it could have been done here.”
“A bigger example is you need people to work, and they need to be smart people. Not everybody can be less than smart. And we force the brilliant people… you have to be able to keep these people,” he said.
His comments come as it was learned that the two men charged with the murder of a 12-year-old Houston girl, found strangled in a creek this week, are Venezuelan migrants who entered the United States illegally.
Johan Jose Rangel Martinez, 21, and Franklin Jose Pena Ramos, 26, were implicated in the death of Jocelyn Nungaray and now face capital murder charges, according to the Houston Police Department on Thursday.
Pena Ramos entered El Paso, Texas, illegally in May, as confirmed by sources from the Department of Homeland Security to Fox News. He was apprehended by Border Patrol agents and released into the U.S. with a Notice to Appear in court.
Rangel Martinez also crossed into El Paso illegally in March and was detained by Border Patrol. He was subsequently released into the U.S. on an unspecified basis.
Fox News Digital has contacted U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement for more details about the suspects’ status but has not yet received a response.
“It’s just an overwhelming sense of relief to know they’re just not out there,” said Alexis Nungaray, Jocelyn’s mother, to Fox Houston.
