A shooter opened fire at a grocery store in Fordyce, Arkansas, Friday, resulting in the deaths of two people and wounding of at least eight others, according to AP News.
The shooting unfolded at approximately 11:30 a.m. at the Mad Butcher store, located about 70 miles south of Little Rock.
“Seven victims were civilians, with two fatalities. A law enforcement officer was also injured but is expected to survive,” Arkansas State Police said.
Police subsequently apprehended the shooter, who was critically injured during the confrontation. The shooter’s name has not been released.
“He came in and started shooting,” meat cutter Matt Gill, who was in the back of the store, told NBC News. “We made it out the back door. I had to get out there, I have a wife and kids at home.”
