Evidently there are exceptions to the rule. Not everyone is above the law when it fits the current narrative. That now includes the pro-Hamas Columbia protestors who took over a campus building. Nearly all the cretins, who showed up to court wearing masks and keffiyehs, had their charges dropped.
In total, Bragg’s office dismissed charges against 30 individuals arrested for occupying the building. As a result, the large majority of those who occupied Hamilton Hall will not face criminal penalties—46 people were arrested and charged in connection with the occupation.
The reason given was both astounding and infuriating. The Manhattan District Attorney’s office helmed by Alvin Bragg cites LACK OF EVIDENCE as to why the charges were dismissed!
The prosecutor said it would have been “extremely difficult” to prove the dismissed cases because the district attorney’s office lacks evidence, including surveillance footage from cameras that were covered up. The fact that some of the defendants wore masks also made it difficult to identify their specific actions.
Are you ‘effing kidding me right now?? The DA’s office should have all the police reports to use as evidence. Not only that, but there should be video from the body cameras as well!
Several police sources could barely contain their disbelief to The Post.
“Lack of evidence?” one said. “Apparently body-worn camera wasn’t enough?”
“We have a DA giving them what amounts to a mandate to push the envelope further now,” fumed another veteran cop.
Jeffrey Wiesenfeld, who served 15 years as trustee on the governing board for CUNY, said it strained belief that authorities couldn’t identify anyone.
I can guarantee that many of those protestors have evidence on their phones. How about the fact that they left Hamilton Hall completely trashed?
They trashed the building and threatened an African American janitor including holding him hostage. https://t.co/g7urIoFQex

But nooooo… the DA weasels their way out of prosecuting these cretins and lets them walk free. Even the media would have evidence that could be used against these asshats.
Keep in mind, not all of these jackasses were students. Some are staffers, and others are trust fund babies such as James Carlson, who was NOT a Columbia student.
Prosecutors said they were seeking to prosecute only one of the 46 protesters arrested that night. James Carlson, who is not affiliated with Columbia, is charged with criminal mischief and arson for setting an Israeli flag alight prior to the takeover and for damaging a police surveillance camera in jail.
Needless to say, the students and staff who had the charges dropped and trotted their keffiyeh mask-wearing selves right outside to hold a gleeful press conference.

Such nice little kiddies aren’t they? I really wonder how many of those involved were also involved in the Palestinian Resistance seminar earlier this year? It wouldn’t surprise me one bit if it was most or all of the students.
Here’s the additional problem with this decision. This weaselly move by Alvin Bragg’s office only emboldens the hateful anti-Jewish pro-Hamas cretins. And you’d better believe that they will persist until someone has the stones to stand up to them and hold them accountable.
Columbia should absolutely expel the students and fire the staffers involved in these protests. The fact that the university hasn’t made that move also, in my opinion, shows their cowardice.
Keep in mind, we’ve been hearing for WEEKS now, since President Trump’s conviction on extremely dubious grounds, that NO ONE is above the law. Guess what folks? There are exceptions!

Exactly. Every single one of those protestors should’ve been charged with trespass and vandalism. Instead, they are free to continue taking over buildings, harass Jewish students, and destroy property. They are the favored ones. They ARE above the law. Trump, however, is not according to their metrics.
This guy is a rabid anti Trump person. Yet even he points out that this could hand votes to him.
Weird that @ManhattanDA just successfully prosecuted Orangenführer only to then make an InKind donation to his campaign.

There should be a multitude of GOP ads in development right now.
Keep in mind that Columbia President Minouche Shafik is on record stating that she documented the damage done to Hamilton Hall after the protestors were removed. Yet, according to Bragg’s office, even that wasn’t enough evidence to bring charges.
The protests on campus, and the overtaking of Hamilton Hall led to Columbia moving to online classes and then essentially canceling graduation. Yet the Manhattan District Attorney claims that no charges will be filed due to a lack of evidence.
Something smells rotten in the Big Apple and it is emanating from Alvin Bragg’s office.
The protestors got handed a huge freebie yesterday, thus continuing Bragg’s pander to the criminals approach. He only goes after those who don’t fit the chosen narrative.
No one is above the law now has exceptions and the Columbia protestors fit the bill.
