The makings of a tradition had U.S. Open champion Bryson DeChambeau celebrating his victory with a shoutout from the former president while sharing a “Trump pour” with pal, Eric Trump.
“You have it all.”
Sunday at the Pinehurst Resort in North Carolina, DeChambeau beat out Rory McIlroy to claim his second career victory at the tournament. As he had in 2020 after defeating Matthew Wolff, the LIV Golf competitor celebrated with former President Donald Trump’s son. The GOP leader offered his own congratulations at Trump National Golf Club Westchester in Briarcliff Manor, New York.
“You can’t just win tournaments without the long ball, like Babe Ruth. You have to be a long ball hitter. You have it all. You have the long ball. And you have everything else,” said Trump in a video shared by attorney Alina Habba as he cited someone who’d contended DeChambeau was “the closest thing we’ve ever seen to Arnold Palmer.”

Elsewhere on social media, the president’s son captured the full extent of a celebratory pour into the trophy as the golfer loaded his “cup” with red wine and said, “This is unbelievable,” beside the caption, “Proud to call this man a friend!”

As he filled the trophy, Eric Trump was heard saying in another video of the moment, “Now that’s a full trophy, ladies and gentlemen. That’s a Trump pour.”
After setting the bottle down, DeChambeau was handed his prize and took a long draught of the wine as onlookers chanted, “Chug!”
Though not in attendance himself, the president shared in the ongoing revelry following his message to the victor with a post of the golfer taking a swing after dark at his club with the trophy lit up beside him. “Bryson hitting a beauty at Trump National Westchester, a little while ago. What a great drive that was!!!”
On Truth Social, the onetime commander-in-chief also gave a nod to the ongoing merger negotiations between the Saudi Arabia-backed LIV and the PGA as he wrote, “Congratulations to Bryson DeChambeau on his incredible WIN of the United States Open! He showed a toughness and inner strength, matched perfectly with his GREAT Golfing Talent, that can never be denied! Under massive pressure, he pulled off some of the greatest shots ever made, especially his spectacular sand save on the 18th Hole that gave him the Victory. ‘Mr. 58’ has always been a WINNER, and will go on to many more Major Championships.”
“He is a truly tough competitor, even a nasty one, but he also happens to be a great guy,” said Trump. “The U.S.A. could not be better represented. Congratulations also to LIV Golf for their genius in signing Bryson and other of the best Golfers in the World. Hopefully Golf will soon come together as one, fully united, which is the way it should be!”
