Queer Eye reality TV star Jon Van Ness, along with other cast members of the show, met with vice president Kamala Harris at the White House last week to celebrate pride month.
The whole charade went seemingly unnoticed until this week as clips of the event made its rounds on social media.
X users swiftly dubbed the ordeal a “mockery of our country.”
Harris described the “meaningful” meeting as a discussion on “the hard-fought progress the LGBTQI+ community has made in the past 20 years.”
She then gave the Queer Eye crew her “stamp of approval” for “being fabulous.”
One reply to Harris’ post read, “We’re the laughing stock of planet Earth,” to which another user chimed in to add, “I thought that was a Spoof.”
The Post Millennial reported that the group spoke about HIV–an illness Van Ness has–during their meeting.
They also discussed Planned Parenthood, where Van Ness was diagnosed.
Queer Eye executive producer Michael Williams explained to the Advocate that what he loved about the White House meeting was “affirming and celebrating who we are.”
“Especially having daughters,” he continued, “I want to affirm them for who they are and celebrate them. That, to me, is the beauty of Queer Eye’s legacy.”
Van Ness specifically garnered attention after he took a turn at the podium in the press briefing room.
The self-proclaimed non-binary personality then proceeded to answer fake questions about his hair.
The census on the video was quite unanimous amongst conservatives, with X users dubbing Van Ness a “degenerate” while questioning whether or not the bit was a parody.
One user quipped, “After Ness came out as trans, he advocated for children to get medical and surgical transitions, stating they are completely reversible and safe.”
“Aside from making a mockery of our country, this is an attack from within.”
Another video showed Harris’ husband visibly uncomfortable as he watched his wife hug Van Ness.
Harris also posted a photo of herself hugging a drag queen on stage. “Our LGBTQI+ children should not fear who they are,” she captioned.
“No one should be made to fight alone. We are all in this together and we will fight with pride.”
Biden’s White House has been under fire before over its pride month displays.
Last year one trans TikToker became an “international embarrassment” after he was captured on video going topless following a run in with the president.
Rose Montoya was soon banned from the White House following the stunt.
He recently made headlines again following an accusation of sexually assaulting at least five individuals.
One of the alleged victims showcased screenshots of an email apparently from Montoya admitting to the 2020 assault, Resist the Mainstream reported.
“I’m really sorry I broke your trust and violated you,” it began. “I genuinely thought for a while that you were triggered by me simply having a phallus.
I thought maybe you’d like me more or want to be intimate with me if I had a vagina. That caused me so much pain and dysphoria. I now understand why you kept pulling away.”
“I’m sorry I forced myself on you. I told myself I’d never do something like that to someone else. And here we are,” the trans TikToker continued in the alleged email.
