Poland’s defense minister announced back in May that the country is reinforcing the metal barrier along its border with Belarus to deter illegal migration.
“We are mending the barrier on the Polish-Belarusian border, we are strengthening this barrier,” Wladyslaw Kosiniak-Kamysz said on private Radio Zet. “The spending on these purposes is the highest in [Poland’s] history.”
Kosiniak-Kamysz also noted that the increased presence of Polish and allied military forces near the border is bolstering NATO’s and the European Union’s eastern front. This military presence has been amplified since Russia’s aggression in Ukraine in 2022.
He advocated for constructing defensive bunkers, trenches, and ditches along the borders with Belarus and Russia’s Kaliningrad exclave, similar to measures taken by the Baltic states.
Poland asserts that the significant wave of illegal migration from Belarus, particularly in 2022, was orchestrated by Belarus and Russia to destabilize Poland, a key ally of Ukraine, and the European Union. Although the metal barrier, completed last year, has significantly reduced illegal crossings, some breaches continue.
The minister’s remarks indicate that the barrier is also viewed as a broader defense measure amid Russia’s ongoing war with Ukraine, which shares a border with Poland.
They want to create a defense at the border but the Muslim immigration from Belarus is a problem for Polish farmers that live alongside the border!
That’s why the Polish farmers found interesting ways to keep illegals out of the country!
Polish farmers decided to dump pig manure along their land to deter Muslim migrants from entering from Belarus.
“We hope that if we spread pig manure, illegal migrants will not pass through because their faith will not allow them to.”
Watch the video below:
The number of attempted illegal border crossings from Belarus into EU-member Poland has shot up in recent months to almost 400 a day — from only a handful a day earlier this year, Polish officials say.
Poland’s border guards have also decried increasingly aggressive behavior by some migrants on the Belarus side of the border. They have posted online videos of some throwing rocks, logs and even burning wood at the Polish troops from behind the fence.
