CV NEWS FEED // A tabernacle that was stolen on May 29 from a Portland Catholic church was recovered on June 15, though the monstrance, which was also stolen, is still missing.
It is not clear whether or not the consecrated hosts, which were inside the tabernacle when it was stolen, were returned to the church as well.
CatholicVote previously reported that St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church in Portland, Oregon, was robbed three times between May 28 and 29. When the tabernacle and the consecrated hosts were stolen, the church offered a $1,000 reward.
According to a bulletin from the Portland Police Bureau, a woman notified the church on June 15 that she had the tabernacle and wanted to return it. She then returned the tabernacle to the church and received the reward.
The bulletin added that the woman is now cooperating with the police’s investigation of the crime. According to the bulletin, she is not a suspect in the burglaries.
The monstrance has not been recovered. As of June 17, no one has been charged with the crimes.
