According to a recent report by Israeli public broadcaster Kan News, Israel Defense Forces (IDF) had knowledge of Hamas’s deadly October 7 plans weeks before the massacre occurred.
Kan News reported that a September 19 summary, titled “Detailed End-to-End Raid Training,” described recent exercises taken by the terrorist organization that included attacking military bases, infiltrating Jewish communities, abducting soldiers and civilians, and post-conflict hostage management.
Sources told Kan that the information “was known to the intelligence leadership, at the very least in the Gaza Division.” Allegedly Israeli military officials which viewed the operational planning by Hamas did not believe the attack was likely to be successful “because the security infrastructure that was constructed in the area two years prior would have made any border incursions unlikely to succeed. However, the defensive measures were successfully breached by the invading jihadists” writes Foreign Desk News.
The allegations come as The New York Times reported in November that the IDF dismissed similar warnings in July because they thought that large-scale maneuvers were beyond Hamas’s capabilities.
An investigation team looking into the failures that occurred during the events of October 7 is expected to submit a report to the IDF’s Chief of Staff in the coming weeks, according to Foreign Desk News.
