The political parties that gained seats in the European Parliament are “far right,” say the mainstream news media. They use the term in contrast to the “center-right” parties that currently form governing coalitions across the coalition.
But the so-called far-right parties are in most cases little different from today’s Republican Party in the United States. They support restrictions on immigration which, as in the US, has surged to record high levels in recent years.
