Representative Byron Donalds (R-FL) has called on the Supreme Court to “intervene” in former President Donald Trump’s hush money case calling for SCOTUS to expedite a hearing and rule on the issue before the election. Trump was convicted on 34 felony charges and has appealed the conviction but he will be sentenced next month.
Donalds explained his position during an NBC News “Meet the Press” interview with Peter Alexander where he said, “This is being done for political purposes. Everybody knows how the court system works in New York. The only ability for this to be overturned is going to be happening two or three years from now. That’s why what happened in lower Manhattan was to interfere with an election.”
The appeals process will be an extremely long process and will likely not be resolved until after November’s election which prompted Donalds to call on the Supreme Court to resolve the issue now because of the politically sensitive nature of this case.
Democrats are campaigning on Trump’s felony conviction in a case that involved a biased judge, a radical leftist DA, and a jury pulled from the most liberal city in the United States.
The political conviction has ignited outrage among Americans and Republicans and some moderate Democrats have argued that the decision does irreparable damage to the justice system.
Donalds is on a short-list of candidates to be Trump’s Vice President and by vocally pushing a Supreme Court intervention, Donalds will score major points with Trump.
