New York Times columnist Michelle Goldberg is out with a fear-mongering piece about the freedom of speech under Trump.
To hear her tell it, if former Republican President Donald Trump is reelected to office, he’ll probably gut free speech (never mind current Democrat President Joe Biden’s habitual attacks on free speech).
Why does she believe this? Simply put, it’s because the producers of a grossly anti-Trump propaganda flick — “The Apprentice” — that she really likes have been unable to “secure a deal to release it here, either in theaters or on streaming services,” she explains for the Times.

Could it be that maybe, just maybe, theaters and streaming services think most Americans wouldn’t be interested in the film given that Trump’s favorability numbers are, frankly, higher than that of President Biden?
Of course not. Goldberg knows the REAL REASON why theaters and streaming services are staying clear of the flick: Because of that dastardly non-dictator dictator known as Donald Trump.
“[T]he possibility that American audiences won’t be able to see ‘The Apprentice’ isn’t just frustrating,” she writes. “It’s frightening, because it suggests that Trump and his supporters have already intimidated some media companies, which seem to be pre-emptively capitulating to him.”
FYI, there is no zero proof of this intimidation, not that this has never stopped the Times’ propagandists from spouting pure bull.
That said, it’s true that Trump’s attorneys have sent a cease-and-desist letter to the film’s producers and threatened to sue, but that doesn’t qualify as intimidation — certainly not the Hitler-esque intimidation Goldberg is envisioning in her leftist head.
“The Movie presents itself as a factual biography of Mr. Trump, yet nothing could be further from the truth,” attorney David A. Warrington reportedly wrote in a letter to the film’s director and writer. “It is a concoction of lies that repeatedly defames President Trump and constitutes direct foreign interference in America’s elections.”
That’s not intimidation.

To Goldberg’s credit, she does admit that ‘[s]ome established distributors might simply be reluctant to take on ‘The Apprentice’ because they think political films are money losers.” Take the 2018 Dick Cheney biopic “Vice,” which was a “major flop.”
But that doesn’t stop her from speculating that “the movie industry is less worried about finding an audience than about poking the MAGA bear.”
To prove this, she predictably turns to other leftists.
“Few want to end up in the MAGA movement’s cross hairs the way Bud Light and Disney did,” she writes. “And as one [clearly left-wing] distribution executive told Variety, any company that wants to be sold or to merge with or buy another company would be hesitant to touch ‘The Apprentice’ because of the possibility that, should Trump be re-elected, his ‘regulators will be punitive.’”
Did she mean just like the Biden administration’s regulators?
“After all, when Trump was president, his Department of Justice tried to block AT&T’s acquisition of Time Warner, the company that owned CNN,” she continued. “As The New Yorker’s Jane Mayer reported, the government’s opposition to the deal was widely seen as retaliation for CNN coverage that displeased Trump.”
Widely seen by LEFTISTS. Meanwhile, in reality, even The New York Times — Goldberg’s own employer — later complained about the terrible deal:
Heartening to learn that the AOL-Time Warner merger that I lived through may no longer be the worst in history! Strange that one company was part of both.https://t.co/UY1w4k6JbO pic.twitter.com/xrzhollP1E

Amazingly, the piece gets considerably worse.
“In a second Trump term, the Department of Justice is expected to be far more aggressive in persecuting Trump’s perceived enemies,” Goldberg obliviously claims.
FYI, this woman, a Democrat, has never once written a single word about Biden’s continual, habitual, Orwellian attacks on his political enemies, from whistleblowers to pro-life activists to even former Trump administration officials like Steve Bannon and Peter Navarro.
Democrats have spent the entire Biden admin prosecuting political enemies up to and including their top political enemy and NYT have cheered it on the entire way. https://t.co/azLwBNendx

Goldberg concludes her column with a hilarious warning about potential censorship under Trump …
“Should ‘The Apprentice’ end up widely available globally but not, for political reasons, in the United States, it will be a sign of democratic decay, as well as an augur of greater self-censorship to come,” she wrote.
“After all, if anxiety about enraging Trump is already shaping what you can and cannot watch, it’s probably bound to get even worse if he actually returns to power,” she finished.
