Authorities in Kentucky are desperately searching for 8-month-old Miya Tucker Rudd, who was last seen in April and tested positive for meth at birth. Kentucky State Police began searching a wooded area near Miya’s home after her parents failed to report her missing.
Miya lived with her parents, Tesla Tucker, 29, and Cage Rudd, 30, and her grandfather, Ricky Smith, 56. All three were arrested last week in connection with her disappearance. The parents were found in a nearby motel with meth and fentanyl pills in plain sight. When questioned, they claimed that family services had taken Miya, a claim proven false by agency records.
Family services had previously removed Miya’s three older siblings from the home due to drug issues and placed them with Miya’s maternal grandmother. However, no social workers or police had removed Miya from her parents’ home. Family members alerted police on May 30 when they realized they hadn’t seen Miya since late April.
Kentucky State Police Trooper Cory King stated, “We have no evidence she’s deceased, but we have no evidence she’s alive, either.” Despite this, investigators remain hopeful but acknowledge that the situation becomes more grim as time passes.
Both parents were booked on charges of child abandonment and fentanyl-related offenses. Miya’s grandfather, Ricky Smith, was also arrested on related charges. Police also arrested Miya’s grandmother, Billie Smith, 49, for an active domestic violence warrant, and Timothy Roach, 37, for possession of unprescribed drugs found at her home.
Miya is described as having brown hair and green eyes. Authorities urge anyone with information to come forward as the investigation continues.
