The cops in charge of the investigation surrounding the late Television personality, Dr. Michael Mosley, held onto key CCTV evidence of the celeb for four days before they found him.
Knewz.com has learned of allegations that the footage, which would have been a significant clue to finding the doctor, was handed to police mere hours after Mosley died while walking the Greek island of Symi.
A report by GB News claims that the owner of the CCTV Camera in question handed the footage over on the same day Moseley went missing.
Other reports like that by the Daily Star, claim knowledge of footage depicting the This Morning celeb struggling at 15h45 on Wednesday, June 5, and it is believed that he died 15 minutes later.
The local police have since excused themselves from the embarrassment with a public statement, saying:
“The Headquarters of the Hellenic Police announces that today’s TV report, which refers to possession and non-utilization by the Hellenic Police, does not correspond to reality,” per the Greek online news agency, ERT News.
“The reality is that the video material came into the possession of the Greek Police after [Michael Mosley’s] body was found.”
“It is emphasized that the preliminary investigation material so far does not show that the British presenter fell from a height.”
Sky News reports that CCTV from a nearby bar, Agia Marina, where Mosley was sitting with friends at around 13h00, showed the man walking away with his purple umbrella toward a rocky slope where he then “fell out of sight”.
His body was discovered by the manager of Agia Marina Bar, Ilias Tsavaris.
When Tsavaris found him, he was in a rocky area with his feet raised as people are advised to do when they feel a faint spell coming on—four days after he had died.
Tsavaris’s attention was drawn to the area by the island’s mayor, per BBC News, who allegedly claimed they had seen something in the area.
“Without saying anything I went outside the fence and as soon as I turned my head on the left, I saw something. I went up close, really close to the man. I saw the body,” Tsavaris told Sky News’ Sadiya Chowdhury.
“You don’t see these kinds of things every day, especially on a small island and a small place like this. So it was not the best feeling.”
“Over there in the mountains, like [32 yards] from the place where we found him, he started crawling a little.”
“And then the distance of [32 yards], which a normal person could do in two minutes or five minutes, took him half an hour or more,” Tsavaris explained.
“So he’s still crawling over and then he fell, passed out exactly in the place where we found him,” Tsavaris said.
It has since been established that Mosley died of natural causes and police derived this from the position his body was found in and the lack of injuries, according to BBC News, which also quoted his wife, Dr Bailey Mosley, saying:
“He did an incredible climb, took the wrong route, and collapsed where he couldn’t be easily seen by the extensive search team.
Her statement continued to say: “We had an incredibly lucky life together. We loved each other very much and were so happy together.”
