Trump spoke of the “dark forces” he claims are aligned against him during a recent interview with Dr. Phil McGraw.
The former president shared that his darkest moments revolve around what his wife reads in the press, adding he believes “evil forces” are controlling Joe Biden.
Globally renowned clinical psychologist McGraw spent an hour with Trump amid his first interview since he became a “convicted felon” last week after being found guilty on 34 counts by a Manhattan jury.
The highly anticipated interview came on the heels of a fiery message unleashed by McGraw following Trump’s conviction.
“We are not some banana republic, for God’s sake!” McGraw declared in the now viral video, Resist the Mainstream reported.
“What are we gonna do next? Have a Putin poisoning posse and start finding political opponents foaming at the mouth at home, not so mysteriously dying in their La-Z-Boy recliners?” McGraw added.
Daily Mail outlined that McGraw probed Trump about the personal struggles he currently faces during the pair’s interview.
“When the crowds aren’t cheering, what’s the darkest moment you think of?” Dr. Phil asked.
Trump responded, “The hardest part for me is probably my family,” adding, “because it’s very unfair to my family. I have a very good wife. She reads this crap. I have great kids.”
The former president has echoed this stance in other interviews, including one with Fox News.
“I have a wonderful wife. I mean, it’s not easy for her to read this kind of stuff – that’s fake – that’s fake stuff,” Trump reiterated to McGraw.
Several Trump family members attended the five-week trial, however, Melania did not attend the trial, Daily Mail highlighted.
The trial ended with Trump’s conviction on charges of falsifying business records related to paying off porn star Stormy Daniels.
Daniels speculated post-conviction that Melania likely did not attend the trial because she wanted to protect their son from the “dangerous environment” at the courthouse.
She also offered some brutal advice to Melania, urging her to “leave” Trump because “it’s been proven he is abusive” and is “now a criminal,” Resist the Mainstream reported.
Trump also discussed his son Don Jr. in the interview with McGraw, calling him a “good kid” who faced accusations himself during the Russia probe.
He also criticized California Rep. Adam Schiff, referring to him as “watermelon head” and an “unattractive guy both inside and outside.”
When speaking on the emotional toll of his legal battles and the impact it’s had on his loved ones, Trump explained, “You have to be very strong.”
“You’re fighting very evil forces and they’re very smart forces. There are people that control Biden. Totally true. I think I know who they are largely. But there are people that control him.”
“They’re very smart, very energetic. Possibly they’re real believers, what their sick ideology is. But you have to be smart and you have to have confidence,” he added.
McGraw told Trump he looked well during the onset of the interview, to which Trump quickly dove into the topic of “corrupt judges” and “corrupt politicians.”
McGraw stated to the former president at one point of the conversation, “They need to stop this. They need to stop pursuing you.”
These remarks echo another viral message from McGraw before Trump’s conviction where he expressed to his audience on Dr. Phil Primetime, “This case appears to have serious problems.”
Trump eventually reminisced: “Oprah used to really like me. She was here many times. She loved my key lime pie. We have key lime pie – and she loved a lot of things about Mar-a-Lago.”
“We’ve sort of lost contact as the expression goes.”
“I even lost Oprah. Oprah used to like me so much. And you know I haven’t spoken to her since. But she’s a good person. Please give her my regards,” he explained to McGraw ater in the interview.
