Recently, at the White House, President Biden found himself in a ridiculous situation during a celebration of the Kansas City Chiefs’ Super Bowl victory.
The event was filled with excitement as Biden was presented with an autographed football helmet by the Chiefs’ head coach Andy Reid and owner Clark Hunt. The team, including star tight end Travis Kelce, was in high spirits. Kelce even encouraged the president to “Put it on!”
However, when Biden attempted to put on the helmet, he accidentally knocked his aviator sunglasses with it. The team couldn’t help but laugh, and someone even let out an “Oh s–t!” that was picked up by an open microphone.
Kelce, who is dating musician Taylor Swift, was there to witness the whole thing. Swift herself wasn’t at the event as she’s currently touring in Europe.
After the helmet mishap, Biden headed to the podium to say a few words, but it seemed the microphone had already been turned off, leaving his remarks unheard. He then removed the helmet and went back inside, still holding onto the signed headgear like a total dunce.
This debacle brought to mind another famous helmet moment in political history. Remember Michael Dukakis in 1988? He was widely ridiculed for riding a military tank while wearing a helmet. Biden’s football helmet moment also sparked immediate reactions. The RNC Research rapid response account took to Twitter, saying, “They’re not laughing with him — they’re laughing at him.”

Bobby LaValley, an aide to House Speaker Mike Johnson, also chimed in, highlighting Biden’s frequent boasts about his football prowess. He quipped on Twitter, “Biden loves to brag about his football career; you’d think he would know how to put on a helmet.”
Biden should permanently wear that helmet. Critics compare Biden to infamous Dukakis photo. #BIDENMUSTGO pic.twitter.com/3XhhYX3pEp
