Disney was once one of the most beloved companies in the world.
But they decided to destroy their reputation to push a left-wing political agenda.
And Disney was forced to make one painful decision that confirmed going woke was a bad move.
Major layoffs at Pixar as part of another round of cost-cutting by Disney
Disney-owned Pixar Animation Studios used to be able to strike box office gold with nearly every movie it released.
Known for its computer animation, the studio produced smash hits like the Toy Story franchise, the Cars franchise, and Finding Nemo.
Now, like the rest of Disney, they have fallen on tough times.
Pixar has not had a major hit since before the pandemic.
And the studio’s last movie, Elemental, featured a non-binary character that uses they/them pronouns.
Elemental ended up bombing at the box office and was criticized for hiding the fact there was a non-binary character before its release.
Now Pixar is laying off 175 people or 14% of its staff as Disney looks to trim costs.
This comes on the heels of the studio laying off 75 people earlier this year.
Included in those cuts were two executives who worked on the box office bomb Lightyear.
Lightyear flopped after it featured a homosexual kiss.
Pixar went down the same woke path as the rest of Disney and now they are paying the price.
Disney cutting back on movies and TV
Disney CEO Bob Iger told investors on an earnings call that the company had to cut spending on content after massive losses in its streaming division.
“As we got into the streaming business in a very, very aggressive way, we tried to tell too many stories,” Iger said. “Basically, we invested too much, way ahead of possible returns. It’s what led to streaming ending up as a $4 billion loss.”
“We tried to tell too many stories,” Iger added.
Marvel, which was once another reliable generator of hits, recently announced that it was going to cut back on the number of movies and TV shows it releases each year.
The comic book movie studio suffered from a number of flops in recent years like The Marvels.
“I’ve – we’ve been working hard with the studio to reduce output and focus more on quality,” Iger said.
“We’re slowly going to decrease volume and go to probably about two TV series a year instead of what had become four and reduce our film output from maybe four a year to two to at the maximum three,” Iger added.
Pixar and Marvel were two of the most successful properties that Disney owned.
Now they’re suffering after bad decisions and following the same woke script as the rest of the company.
Disney laid off 7,000 workers over the last year which is more than 3% of its staff.
And Iger warned that more cuts were coming.
Disney is more interested in pushing a political message in its content than delivering the family-friendly entertainment that made the company famous.
