Fulton County DA Fani Willis’ year started off much different than where she’s at now, and the negative headlines keep piling up.
According to the New York Post, the embattled DA, whose case against former President Donald Trump is now indefinitely delayed, and likely beyond the November election, received a peculiar donation from a convicted criminal.
During Willis’ Democratic primary election campaign, she received a $1,000 donation from Shelitha Robertson, 62, who was sentenced to seven years behind bars for committing a massive fraud scheme during the pandemic that netted her an astonishing $15 million in ill-gotten funds.
Aside from the donation to Willis’ campaign, Robertson splurged on luxury items, such as a 10-carat diamond and a Rolls Royce.
What’s going on?
According to Georgia campaign filings, Willis received the donation from Robertson at the same time Robertson had committed fraud in exploiting the Paycheck Protection Program. The program pulled fraudsters out of the woodwork, and many have been prosecuted as a result of taking advantage of the program, known as “PPP.”
Robertson donated the money to Willis’ campaign in May 2020. She also unsuccessfully ran to be a Circuit Court judge in Fulton County in 2010 and 2014.

The New York Post noted:
In April and May 2020, Robertson — a former Atlanta assistant city attorney and an ex-cop in Georgia’s largest city — fraudulently applied for millions of dollars in government loans for four businesses she owned, prosecutors said.
In prosecuting Robertson, the Department of Justice explained how she went about scheming the mountain of money out of the government.
“The loan applications falsely inflated the number of employees and average monthly payroll for each of the four businesses, resulting in larger PPP loans than Robertson would be legitimately entitled to obtain,” the DOJ wrote.
Social media reacts
Given that Robertson was just sentenced to prison time on Friday, social media reacted to the news, including the revelation that she had donated to Willis.
“Hopefully her assets were confiscated and some kind of money judgment rendered to recover what she has stolen,” one X user wrote.
Another X user wrote, “Georgia has some problems. Do they have any idea where the citizens tax money has gone ??”
Fani Willis’ office hasn’t responded to the report regarding the donations as of yet. No surprise there.
