NASHVILLE, TN – Earlier this week, a night of horror unfolded in Nashville, Tennessee’s Red Caboose Park that resulted in the death of a 13-year-old boy and left his elder sister injured. According to Metropolitan Nashville Police, the unfortunate incident was a result of an altercation among teens in the park’s parking lot close to Bellevue Middle School.
The victim, Aayden Hayes, was reportedly found with multiple gun wounds and was pronounced dead after being rushed to Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
The teenager’s 16-year-old sister managed to escape the confronting situation and sought immediate help from a nearby fire station. She was later transferred to Vanderbilt for treatment.
The Metropolitan police were quick to act on the information provided by on-the-spot witnesses, leading authorities to the alleged suspect, 15-year-old De’Anthony Osasosifo. Osasosifo was apprehended half a mile away from the crime scene. A nine-millimeter semi-automatic gun, supposedly stolen from a vehicle in Murfreesboro in 2023, was also recovered by a K-9 officer from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) from his path.
When interrogated, Osasosifo confessed to possessing and firing the weapon during the tragic brawl. The Metro Nashville Public Schools (MNPS) identified both Aayden’s sister and Osasosifo as students of James Lawson High School during the last academic year. The police department stated that they suspect the conflict was rooted in an ongoing feud between girls in the two teen groups.
In line with the evidence collected and his confession, Osasosifo is due to be accused of criminal homicide and attempted criminal homicide in the juvenile court.
