Let the games begin.
The election is now five months away, and the gamesmanship between the GOP and Nevada is starting.
The Nevada GOP, the RNC, and the Trump Campaign have filed a suit to challenge Nevada’s mail-in ballot procedures.
Let’s Play
The challenge is about the state accepting mail-in ballots that are post-marked after election day.
RNC Chairman Michael Whatley stated, “Counting ballots received after Election Day without a postmark creates a concerning and potentially fraudulent impact on Nevada’s elections.
“We are filing this lawsuit to ensure that Nevada law is followed and promote election integrity in the Silver State.”
The suit, which was filed last month, is a joint filed against the Nevada Secretary of State by Cari-Ann Burgess, the Washoe County Registrar of Voters, Jan Galassini, the Washoe County Clerk, Lorena Portillo, the Clark County Registrar of Voters, and Lynn Marie Goya, the Clark County Clerk, the RNC, Trump campaign and the Nevada GOP is “to enforce one critical component of Nevada’s post-election day counting of ballots.”
In June 2021, former Democrat Governor Steve Sisolak signed legislation that would allow ballots to be counted that were mailed in four days after election day, which is absurd.
Michael McDonald, the chairman of the Nevada Republican Party, stated, “We are committed to ensuring the integrity of Nevada’s elections and inspiring voter confidence.
Michael McDonald, the chairman of the Nevada Republican Party, said, “We are committed to ensuring the integrity of Nevada’s elections and inspiring voter confidence.
“Allowing ballots without postmarks to be illegally counted undermines both. We will continue to fight for fair elections for all Nevadans where only legal votes are counted and the system is secure.”
Now, if I thought this was a frivolous lawsuit, you know I would say it, but this is a legit issue.
I have no problem with early voting, although I think some of the windows allow voters to vote too far in advance of election day.
I have no problem with mail-in voting, as long as it is handled properly and protected against voter fraud.
With early voting now extended, there is simply no reason for anyone to cast a vote after election day, allowing the state to count all votes by the end of that day and announce a winner.
To me, ballots that are mailed in should be received by election day, not postmarked by election day.
This is a legit case and I hope they are successful in their suit.
