Fox News correspondent Bill Melugin released a video on Wednesday showing a large group of military-aged Middle Eastern males illegally crossing the U.S. southern border.
Melugin, in a post on X, noted that many of the men were classified as “special interest aliens,” meaning they originate from countries linked to Islamic terrorism and are supposed to undergo thorough vetting by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).
“We encountered groups of men from the Middle East and Asia crossing illegally into Jacumba, CA, at 2 a.m., including individuals from Iran, Pakistan, China, Turkey, India, and Bangladesh,” Melugin posted on X.
“There were no Mexicans in these groups. Several of the men are ‘special interest aliens,’ coming from countries with potential security concerns and should be subject to additional DHS vetting. This location is about an hour east of San Diego, as Border Patrol’s San Diego sector has become the top spot for illegal crossings at the southern border in recent weeks, for the first time since the 1990s,” Melugin continued.
The correspondent also shared details from his account during an interview later that night with Fox News host Jesse Watters.
“You can see adult men from all around the world are showing up here in sanctuary state California to cross our border illegally in the middle of the night,” Melugin told Watters. “Take a look at this video we shot right here in Jacumba, east of San Diego, at 2 a.m., as masses of predominantly Middle Eastern and Asian men crossed illegally, very nonchalantly.”
He emphasized that none of the men were from Mexico, despite entering the U.S. through Mexico.
Melugin also mentioned a local resident he met, a former U.S. military member, who collects discarded passports and IDs that illegal immigrants drop as soon as they cross into Jacumba.
“He has hundreds from China, from Afghanistan, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and many others,” Melugin told Watters.
“Some of them are burned, cut, or shredded as these migrants try to destroy documents to hide who they are and where they’ve been,” he added.
In a more recent post on X, Melugin interviewed a man from Turkey who crossed into California with a group of other Turkish men.
“A Turkish man who crossed into Jacumba, CA illegally with a group of other Turkish men told me he paid $10,000 to a cartel and expressed shock at how easy it was to cross the U.S. border with no resistance, telling me Americans should be ‘worried’ about security and who is crossing,” the post stated.
Melugin’s reporting highlights ongoing concerns about the southern border, particularly the influx of individuals from countries with potential security risks.
The video and subsequent interviews underscore the challenges faced by border security and the broader implications of illegal crossings.
Melugin’s reports bring attention to the significant and diverse influx of migrants, raising questions about the Biden administration’s current border security measures and the potential risks associated with insufficient vetting of those crossing into the U.S. as monthly statistics and accounts by correspondents like Melugin document.
