From Rightwingnewshour.com:
It would appear that this new generation of Democrats has figured out another way to get their hands on campaign money.
Last year, the big scandal was Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN).
Now it is her fellow Squad member, Rep. Cori Bush (D-MO).
Marrying the Money
If you recall, Omar came under fire for spending millions with her secret lover’s political consulting firm.
Eventually, she broke off the business relationship and married him, but not until after he had received stacks of cash from her campaign.
Now that the business relationship has been terminated, Omar’s political spending has been cut back dramatically.
Bush has taken a different route in that her new husband was part of her security team.
The defund the police advocate has spent more than $500,000 on personal security with a firm that employs her new husband, Cortney Merritts, who, by the way, does not have the proper licensing to provide security.
Merritts and Bush filed for a marriage license on February 11 and were married a few days later in a private ceremony.
Since Bush has been in office, she has paid the firm a total of $571,856 in fees, yet, if she had her way, she would have the St. Louis police department disbanded.
Bush has maintained that if she did not have personal security, she would probably be dead, yet she wants her constituents to go without police protection.
All that aside, we need an investigation into her security spending now that we know this looks like she was feeding her lover campaign funds to help make sure their marriage got off on the right foot.
