President Joe Biden is apt to do just about whatever he pleases, it seems, with little fear of the possibility of a media backlash.
On Sunday, the 81-year-old president paid a late-night visit to daughter-in-law Hallie Biden’s home. The surprise visit came five days before the nine-year anniversary of Beau Biden’s death — Hallie and Beau were married for 13 years and had two children together.
Adding to the intrigue, the president’s visit came just eight days before Hunter Biden’s high-profile trial on gun charges. The trial is scheduled to commence on June 3, and Hallie Biden is expected to be called as a witness.

According to an NBC News analysis of their trial brief, prosecutors intend to call Hunter’s ex-wife as a witness, along with Hallie Biden, who had an affair with Hunter after her husband passed away. An unknown third witness is also expected to be called, according to the network.
White House spokesman Andrew Bates brushed away any concerns about the awkward optics at play when asked by the New York Post if the president discussed the trial with Hallie.
“No,” Bates replied. “He visited her because of the approaching 9th anniversary of Beau’s passing.”
Hunter is charged with making false statements about his drug use on a federal form when purchasing a firearm in 2018 — he pleaded not guilty. A police report at the time reportedly stated that Hallie threw a gun owned by the president’s son in a dumpster behind a market near a school. She was still in a relationship with Hunter when this occurred.
Prosecutors reportedly plan to use Hunter’s book and his infamous laptop from hell against him — the laptop was chock full of photos of Hunter using drugs and posing with hookers, but there are also photos of him posing with the gun.
The trial comes after a judge refused to accept a “sweetheart” deal in June. Hunter agreed to a probation-only plea deal to the gun charge and tax crimes last June, but the judge balked when his attorneys “demanded broad immunity of past conduct, including violations of the Foreign Agents Registration Act, which could implicate his father,” the New York Post reported.
His trial for allegedly failing to pay more than $1.4 million in federal taxes from 2016-2019 is set to begin in September.
Witness tampering was a common theme among social media users responding to the story — here’s a quick sampling as seen on X:
Witness tampering. She’s a prosecution witness. This is no different than when Slick Willie met with Obama’s AG in a plane at Phoenix when Hillary was under investigation.
