Chicken wings are one of the most popular foods in America.
The average American eats about 90 wings per year.
But “Stank” chicken wings led this Florida man to do one awful thing to his mother.
Chicken wings come in a wide variety of styles and flavors.
They can be boiled, steamed, grilled, baked, or sautéed.
There are thousands of ways to flavor them, and it doesn’t take a lot of work to prepare and cook up a good wing.
Americans love to eat chicken wings
According to the National Chicken Council’s estimates, Americans ate roughly 1.45 billion chicken wings during this year’s Super Bowl game.
To put this into perspective, 1.45 billion chicken wings would stretch halfway to the moon if laid out longways.
It is enough wings for every man, woman, and child in the United States to eat four wings each.
Spoiled chicken is about the only way to ruin wings.
And “stank” chicken from a WingStop led 20-year-old Florida resident Kevin Thompson to terrorize his mother.
Fighting Over “Stank” Chicken
Thompson picked up an order from WingStop and got back in his Chevy Impala where his mother waited in the passenger seat.
He got in the car and tossed the bag of chicken wings to his mother to eat.
On the way out of the parking lot, he told his mother, who was eating the wings, that he needed to go to a different WingStop location to pick up another order.
“Why?” his mother asked.
“I want chicken,” he told her, before yelling that “the chicken I gave you is stank.”
An argument erupted between Thompson and his mother over the “stank” chicken.
Suddenly, Thompson slammed on the brakes of his Impala, looked directly into his mother’s eyes, and said “Let’s fight!”
Apparently, he wasn’t joking around.
When they both got out of the car, Thompson punched his mother directly in the face.
He then jumped back in the car and tried to run her over while she was in a daze standing on the sidewalk.
When he missed hitting her, the mother took off running toward a patch of grass next to a Publix grocery store parking lot.
But that did not stop Thompson from trying to run her over again in his Impala.
Fortunately, the Coral Springs Police arrived on the scene before Thompson had the chance to kill his mother over the “stank” wings.
After questioning Thompson, police took him to the Broward County slammer and charged him with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon without intent to kill, domestic battery and driving with a suspended license without knowledge.
