A group of more than 40 mayors have affixed their name on a letter to the Biden administration calling on President Joe Biden to create a program that will allow illegal immigrants to work in America with their “dignity” intact.
The mayors are with Cities for Action, a coalition of nearly 200 U.S. mayors and county executives “advocating for pro-immigrant public policies,” as the organization’s website states. The coalition is a who’s who of progressive left Democratic mayors.
“We, leaders representing local governments around the country are writing to respectfully request that the Department of Homeland Security leverage its authority to grant parole for longterm undocumented immigrants and our most recent arrivals to create a process for streamlined work authorization,” the letter said. “Our request is rooted in the belief that extending the dignity of legal authorization to work for our residents born in Mexico, Guatemala, the Dominican Republic, and other countries would be a positive step forward.”
New York City Mayor Eric Adams, who is dealing with a city overrun by illegal immigrants, took to social media to declare that he is “leading” the effort to mainstream the practice of foreign nationals breaking U.S. immigration laws.
New York City wouldn’t be the greatest city in the world without generations of immigrants who have rolled up their sleeves and proved that the #AmericanDreamWorks — but only if we let people work.

The letter declared that it’s “the morally right thing to do” and touted “the incredible value [illegal] immigrants bring,” arguing that granting them legal work status “will result in higher wages, shielding them from workplace exploitation and enabling them to contribute more effectively to the labor market.”
“This, in turn, will lead to increased tax contributions, estimated at $13.8 billion annually. Additionally, the Congressional Budget Office predicted that the GDP of the U.S. economy is going to be boosted by $7 trillion over the next ten years due to the contributions of new arriving immigrants,” the group said.
“Despite their lack of work authorization, long-term immigrants are valued members of communities across this country. They add tremendous value to the U.S. economy as neighbors, taxpayers, workers, consumers, and entrepreneurs. It is time we provided the security and opportunity they have long yearned for. It is time to extend work permits to bring millions out of the shadows,” the letter concluded.
San Francisco Mayor London Breed, Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson, Boston Mayor Michelle Wu, and Denver Mayor Mike Johnston are among the signees.
Here’s a quick sampling of social media responses to what would eventually amount to a fast track to amnesty:
Instead of driving down wages for hard-working Americans, we should deport the illegal migrants.
We cannot reward this behavior. There must be only one way for guests to enter America. Through the front door. At our invitation. For people who have something to contribute. After…

These illegal aliens must be deported.

Legal immigrants can always work.

My immigrant family came here legally and didn’t receive a handout like this bunch is. This bunch breaks the law and they get rewarded. Why bother having borders and laws.

More rewards for breaking our laws. This will just encourage more “migrants ” to come here.
