CV NEWS FEED // The western route of the National Eucharistic Pilgrimage to the National Eucharistic Congress in Indianapolis is set to kick off in San Francisco on Sunday, May 19.
CatholicVote previously reported that the western pilgrimage, named for St. Junipero Serra, will be launched with Mass at 11 a.m. celebrated by San Francisco Archbishop Salvatore J. Cordileone at St. Mary’s Cathedral.
According to an emailed news release from the Archdiocese of San Francisco, the Mass will feature the world premiere of the Missa Pange Lingua, A Mass for Eucharistic Renaissance with the 20-voice Schola Benedictus XVI choir.Â
After Mass, the pilgrimage will begin at 1 p.m. with a Eucharistic procession through the streets of San Francisco and across the Golden Gate Bridge.
The Archdiocese also added that a vigil will be held at Mission Dolores on May 18 at 6:30 p.m.
As CatholicVote reported, four pilgrimages from every border of the United States to Indianapolis will begin this month. The St. Junipero Serra route is the longest of the four.
