Rory McIlroy is turning to the same attorney who represented Tiger Woods to help with his divorce.
The Northern Irishman filed for divorce from his wife of seven years, Erica Stoll, in Florida on Monday with court filings listing Thomas Sasser as the attorney representing McIlroy in the matter.
Sasser has represented a number of high-profile clients in divorce cases, including Woods’ 2010 divorce from Elin Nordegren and more recently Joe Jonas in his divorce from Sophia Turner.
The West Palm Beach-based lawyer also represented NASCAR legend Jeff Gordon during his contentious divorce from ex-wife Brooke Sealey.
Sasser is the managing partner of the law firm Sasser, Cestero & Roy, P.A and chaired the Family Law Section of The Florida Bar in the past and currently is the President of the International Academy of Family Lawyers.
News of McIlroy’s divorce came to light on Tuesday ahead of this week’s PGA Championship at Valhalla Golf Course in Louisville, Ky.
A court filing obtained by The Post revealed that the couple had a prenuptial agreement and that the marriage was believed to be “irretrievably broken.”
