President Joe Biden’s “race baiter” commencement address over the weekend left an incensed Lawrence Jones in disbelief.
“He’s talking like he’s a black man”

Stops in Detroit and Atlanta were heavy-handed on divisive politics from the president as he appeared at an NAACP event after celebrating the graduates of Georgia’s Morehouse College. The latter drew particular ire from “Fox & Friends” co-host Jones on Monday as he challenged the claims made with the question, “How does he know?”
During the speech that co-host Steve Doocy would go on to suggest had been “focus-tested,” Biden pivoted off the 2020 death of George Floyd while in police custody in the months after COVID had begun sweeping across the country.
“You started college just as George Floyd was murdered and there was a reckoning on race. It’s natural to wonder if democracy you hear about actually works for you. What is democracy if black men are being killed in the street?” wondered the president. “What is democracy if a trail of broken promises still leave black — black communities behind? What is democracy if you have to be 10 times better than anyone else to get a fair shot? And most of all, what does it mean, as we’ve heard before, to be a black man who loves his country even if it doesn’t love him back in equal measure?”
“How does he know? He’s talking like he’s a black man. How does he know the experience?” argued Jones at one point during Monday’s broadcast.
Elsewhere during “Fox & Friends,” the co-host had more to say about the message delivered by the president seen as a bid to bolster support among the demographic.
As he put it, “Just imagine that your parents have made all these sacrifices, you’ve made all these sacrifices, and you get to attend one of the top colleges in the country, and then you graduate, and then the moment that is supposed to be a joyous time, the president of the United States telling you that you’re going to be shot in the street by cops, that you’re going to have to work 10 times as hard, and that the country doesn’t love you.”
“I mean, what type of nonsense is the president trying to pull off right now?” the co-host asked.

The commentary came as part of a broader discussion about the 2024 presidential campaigns and their appeal to voters. On the heels of a huge gathering in New Jersey, former President Donald Trump had announced his plans to hold an event in the South Bronx as he has repeatedly contended growing support among black voters and that the Empire State would be in play come November.
His position seemed to be supported by polling averages that showed roughly 25% of black men under the age of 50 favored the GOP leader over Biden whose margin had shrunk significantly compared to the 2020 matchup.
