Former Fox News host Tucker Carlson is one of the powerful voices in conservative media.
He shined a bright light on a shocking injustice that forced politicians to take action.
And a political prisoner for this awful injustice was freed after a Tucker Carlson campaign.
Army soldier railroaded for acting in self-defense against a Black Lives Matter protester
Violent protests by Black Lives Matter supporters broke out across the country during the summer of 2020.
These destructive rioters were given free rein by Democrat politicians to take over cities and wreak havoc.
Army Sergeant Daniel Perry was driving for Uber in Austin, Texas when his vehicle was stopped by members of Antifa during a Black Lives Matter riot on July 25, 2020.
A swarm of rioters surrounded his vehicle, preventing him from passing by them.
Antifa member Garrett Foster approached Perry with an AK-47 to confront him.
Perry warned the crowd to back up but the mob wouldn’t listen.
The rock was blockaded by the rioters and Foster was menacing him with a low-slung AK-47.
Perry shot and killed Foster in what should have been an open-and-shut case of self-defense in Texas.
“I made a wrong turn, a guy pointed a freakin weapon at me and I panicked. I don’t know what to do. I’m just an Uber driver. I made a wrong turn; I’ve never had to shoot someone before. They started shooting back at me, and I got out of the area,” Perry said on a 911 call that night.
He turned himself into the police and fully cooperated with their investigation.
But Austin has a Soros-backed prosecutor who protected left-wing protesters during 2020.
Perry was charged with murder and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
Travis County District Attorney Jose Garza argued that Perry should have driven away from the confrontation even though his car was surrounded.
A jury pulled from one of the bluest cities in Texas convicted Perry of murder but acquitted him on aggravated assault.
Pressure campaign frees Daniel Perry
Perry committed a clear act of self-defense but he was railroaded by a Soros-backed district attorney and a left-wing journey in Austin.
Then-Fox News host Tucker Carlson began pressuring Texas Governor Greg Abbott (R) to issue a pardon for Perry on his show in 2023.
He tried to invite the Texas Governor onto his show to discuss the Perry case but Abbott declined.
“Because Austin, Texas, the justice system is overseen by a Soros-funded DA, Perry was charged with murder for defending himself. And tonight, we are sad to tell you, this man, a military veteran driving an Uber car, was convicted of murder,” Carlson said in April 2023. “It means that in the state of Texas, if you have the wrong politics, you’re not allowed to defend yourself.”
More than a year later, Abbott finally issued a pardon for Perry.
“Texas has one of the strongest ‘Stand Your Ground’ laws of self-defense that cannot be nullified by a jury or a progressive district attorney,” Abbott said in a statement.
Tucker Carlson and media attention helped to prevent the right to self-defense from becoming meaningless in Texas.
