Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson packs up and leaves Holywood as he enters a new business venture. The rapper will open a new movie studio, and instead of Hollywood, he decides to set it all up in Shreveport, Louisiana.
50 Cent was the latest star to make a decisive move to depart from Los Angeles.
In a statement sent to Fox News Digital, the legendary rapper said: “As someone who has always believed in the transformative power of music, film, and television, I’m beyond excited to introduce the expansion of my G-Unit Film & Television through the launch of G-Unit Studios right here in Shreveport.”
“From the gritty narratives of the streets to the compelling stories that define our era, G-Unit has always been more than just entertainment; it’s a platform for voices that need to be heard, stories that need to be told,” he added.
For 50 Cent, the decision to establish a film studio in Shreveport is not “just a business decision” but a “commitment” to honing talent, offering opportunities, and creating a community that “thrives through creativity and innovation.”
He furthered, “We see Shreveport as a beacon of inspiration and creativity.”
Jackson established G-Unit Film and Television in 2003. Through this production house, he released “50 Cent: The New Breed,” a documentary about his craft and life.
Shreveport Mayor Tom Arceneaux welcomed this move and remarked that the city is “thrilled” to be the home of 50 Cent’s new studio.
“This city’s rich culture and talent provide the perfect backdrop for this endeavor,” Arceneaux said. “We are eager to collaborate with Mr. Jackson and G-Unit Film & Television to bring captivating movies and entertainment to Shreveport and Caddo Parish.”
Jackson joins other Holywood stars who opted to move their businesses out of California.
In 2023, Mark Wahlberg shared that his family left Los Angeles and moved to Las Vegas.
The actor/producer remarked that he wants to transform the city into “Hollywood 2.0” through his new studio.
“We’re looking to create 10,000 jobs in the studio alone,” he told Fox News.
“The average salary would be $100,000 more than what it is now. We want to train people both in front of and behind the camera, create jobs, most importantly, first and foremost, for locals.”
“And then, after that, I think we can attract a lot of people,” Wahlberg added. “The housing market is great.”
Wahlberg added that the cost of living is more affordable in Las Vegas.
“When I moved here, I brought probably like 15 or 20 people that work with me also moving here,” Wahlberg said.
“They went from three-bedroom houses that they were really struggling to pay rent for. And now they have a six-bedroom house. And it’s, you know, half the cost.”
“And, you know, they walk their dogs,” he continued. “They’re in a gated community. They’ve got the school right there, two blocks down the road.
“It’s just a much better lifestyle here, and it’s more affordable.”
