Leftists are freaking out because former President Donald Trump has scheduled a fundraiser on the same day as his youngest son’s high school graduation.
The problem, they say, is that he was originally supposed to be in court on May 17th but was essentially given the day off specifically to attend his youngest son Barron Trump’s high school graduation.
“For weeks, Mr. Trump had loudly complained outside the courtroom about the prospect of missing the ceremony on Friday, May 17, and had criticized the judge, Juan M. Merchan, for not immediately giving him permission to attend,” The New York Times reported late last month.
“But on Monday [April 29th], before testimony restarted in Mr. Trump’s criminal trial in Lower Manhattan, Judge Merchan announced that he could have the day off from court,” according to the Times.
Judge Merchan is truly heartless in not letting a father attend his son’s graduation

However, word has now emerged that the former president will be attending a fundraiser on the 17th, and that the time of the fundraiser may very well conflict with the time of his son’s graduation.
“We are thrilled to welcome President Trump back to Minnesota to headline our Lincoln Reagan dinner, an annual tradition that reminds us of the roots of our Party and the leaders who have been most impactful in promoting our American values,” Minnesota GOP chair David Hann said in a statement this week.

According to The Independent, the fundraiser will be held in Saint Paul, Minnesota on May 17th, though it’s not clear at what time.
Barron’s graduation meanwhile will occur in West Palm Beach, Florida, and is slated to start at 10:00 am EST. If the fundraiser is late that evening, then there would likely be no problem, as Trump could just fly to Minnesota after the graduation.
But leftist critics say it doesn’t matter even if Trump manages to make time to attend both events — he’d never told Merchan about the fundraiser, meaning he lied and should be punished.
Look:
HE LIED TO THE JUDGE AND TO EVERYONE!!!!!

The judge should reverse his decision and tell TFG it’s graduation or court. Period.

Judge Merchan can put the 17th back on the schedule and that’s exactly what he should do…

If 45 can’t attend both and chooses the political event over the original reason for his request to be excused, Merchan should rescind the excused day. I’ll save my “slime ball” descriptive until later.

Would be a great day to put Donnie in jail for contempt. Since the judge granted his request to go to his son’s graduation & he’s attending a fundraiser instead – throw his ass in jail for 24 hours on May 17th.

The Judge gave him permission to go to his son’s Graduation, NOT to go to a fund raiser. Hopefully the Judge will tell him it’s his son’s Graduation or Prison. It’s another violation of his Court Orders pic.twitter.com/mOhGK6Epfv

Most likely, the graduation will be held in the morning and the fundraiser will be held at night, meaning there’ll be no problems.
In fact, Trump could have likely attended the fundraiser even if he hadn’t received May 17th off from court, given that court usually occurs during the daytime, and fundraisers usually occur at night.
All this comes over a wider debate over whether Trump attended his other children’s graduations. Many leftists are convinced that he’s such a “narcissist” that he didn’t even attend them. But this is FALSE.
“An extensive search by Snopes provides documented evidence of Trump attending all of his children’s high school and college graduations,” the left-wing fact-checking site Snopes reported last month.
Including Donald Trump Jr.’s 1996 high school graduation.
“[M]ultiple members of that 1996 class have stated that Donald Trump was in attendance at that graduation,” according to Snopes. “One person, whose identity and connection to Trump Jr. Snopes has verified, provided photographic evidence to support that claim.”
