California News:
Four years ago in April 2020, when Gov. Gavin Newsom had the entire state locked down under his Covid emergency powers, the Globe reported that nursing homes were also under lockdown following very serious COVID-19 outbreaks and deaths. Yet at the same time, the California Department of Public Health suspended nursing home relegations, and issued a directive to allow COVID-19 patients to be housed in nursing homes, all but assuring more Covid deaths of the elderly. (Article 6 of the March 30th directive)
The state wasn’t even allowing spouses and family to visit elderly loved ones, ostensibly to avoid infecting the vulnerable elderly patients.
The Globe contacted the Department of Public Health and asked, “Is the CDPH suspending the very regulations that keep patients safe from abuse and incompetence?” and “Does this mean COVID-19 patients may be sent to nursing facilities?”
The response from the public health department included links to more directives and was just a lot of government-speak indicating that yes, they were going to be moving elderly Covid patients who needed long-term care into skilled nursing facilities.
The April 1 directive says: “Patients hospitalized with COVID-19 can be discharged to a Skilled Nursing Facility when clinically indicated.”
Then the Trump U.S. Justice Department announced in August 2020 that it was considering investigating whether four states led by Democratic governors violated the civil rights of the elderly by requiring nursing homes to admit coronavirus patients, a practice which critics say led to thousands of deaths, Yahoo News reported. “The department said it was seeking COVID-19 data related to nursing homes from four states: New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Michigan.”
The Globe reported at the time that the DOJ needed to add California to this investigation. But nothing happened.
We discovered by April 2021 that Gov. Newsom and four other tyrannical blue-state governors, were the only state leaders in the nation who did this.
The result was deadly for thousands of vulnerable, elderly nursing home patients in these Democrat-run states.
“The five Democratic governors, most of the leading Trump administration antagonists in some of the blue states where the coronavirus caused the most infections and deaths in the U.S., received letters, Newsmax reported:
- California Gov. Gavin Newsom.
- New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo.
- New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy.
- Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer.
- Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Wolf.
Newsmax reported that Republican members of the U.S. House Oversight Committee announced they would be investigating five Democratic governors for their decision to mandate nursing homes to take untested, if not COVID-19 positive, patients during the pandemic, and Gov. Gavin Newsom was one of those being investigated.
“This is shaping up to be an investigation into whom to blame for nursing home deaths, the federal government or the Democratic states that forced nursing homes to take COVID-19 patients before they were prepared to handle them, according to the GOP members of the House Oversight Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Crisis,” Newsmax reported.
We never did learn why these five Democrat governors issued the medically deadly orders.
Then in December 2021 Gateway Pundit reported, “New Jersey will pay out $53 million to settle claims that the state’s negligence contributed to the deaths of more than 100 veterans at state-run homes during the coronavirus pandemic.”
However, GP also reported that the Biden DOJ dropped the investigation into the blue state governors.
“A 2020 study revealed 45% of all US coronavirus deaths occurred in nursing homes,” Gateway Pundit reported. The study was updated seven times since originally being published in May 2020. “Only 0.6% of the US population lives in nursing homes but over 45% of the coronavirus deaths were in these centers.”
Under Gov. Gavin Newsom’s Covid orders, the California Department of Public Health did direct skilled nursing facilities to take in COVID-19 patients, even acknowledging that the elderly patients already in skilled nursing facilities are “California’s most vulnerable.”
As barbaric as it was, we all knew the answer then, and with certainty we do now. It was a convenient “depopulation” opportunity.
This still needs to be legally adjudicated, and these cases need to see a courtroom.
We also need to know where the orders to the governors of these states came from. How coordinated was this? Did it come from the National Institutes of Health? the CDC? We are owed details about their decisions to send contagious COVID-19 patients into nursing homes. The American people deserve answers – and justice.
