College campuses across the country are being rocked by destructive left-wing protests.
In the Sunshine State, that is not going to fly.
And Ron DeSantis gave woke college students a brutal reality check that they are going to hate.
Pro-Palestinian protests disrupting college campuses nationwide
Student protests encouraged by left-wing agitators have broken out on college campuses across the country to support Palestine in the Israel-Hamas war.
Classes have been forced to go remote and graduations have been canceled because of unruly protestors.
Florida’s major state universities have avoided the turmoil that has plagued campuses like Columbia University in New York City.
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis appeared on Fox News’ Hannity where he said that the Sunshine State will not be “running daycare centers.”
Fox News host Sean Hannity praised Florida for having “no moral ambiguity” and for not allowing student protestors to run wild.
“Well, that’s right, Sean. In a variety of ways, Florida is not California [and] not New York on a whole host of issues, but particularly on how you handle these universities,” DeSantis explained. “These students that think they can set up an encampment or take over buildings, they don’t have a right to do that and they will be held accountable in Florida.”
The Florida Governor said that not holding protestors accountable for their disruptive behavior only encourages more of it.
“When I see in places like Columbia, Harvard, and the California schools, the administrators, the presidents of these universities are just too weak to do anything about it,” DeSantis said. “Maybe they agree with what’s going on, but there’s no consequences. So, when there’s no consequences you’re going to continue to see that conduct.”
Florida took a firm stance early against student protests
When the student protest movement started gaining steam, Florida drew a line in the sand against disruptive behavior.
“I can tell you in Florida there will be consequences,” DeSantis said. “We are not running daycare centers at our universities, we’re running universities. People are there to learn and people are there to better themselves. We’re not going to sit there and have tents spring up all around our university campuses, it’s unacceptable.”
Nationally protestors have occupied buildings on campus and set up tent encampments.
DeSantis previously warned that protestors would get the boot if they got out of line in Florida.
“And yet at Columbia, at Yale, all these places, those guys, those folks rule the roost,” DeSantis said. “They do whatever they want, and these administrators and the presidents of these universities are weak, they’re scared, and they don’t do anything.
“You know, you do that in Florida at our universities, we’re showing you the door, you’re gonna be expelled when you’re doing that stuff,” DeSantis continued. “And you know what? The minute people start to face consequences, you are not gonna see this nonsense going on.”
Florida spelled out the consequences for unruly behavior to protestors early on and kept things from getting out of hand.
Meanwhile, left-wing colleges gave them free rein and the situation spiraled out of control.
