The wild and crazy antics of Florida residents are well documented.
One resident of the Sunshine State stunned convenience store employees with his partner in crime.
And a Florida man took an alligator on a beer run and the reason why will shock you.
Florida man carries alligator into convenience store with mouth taped shut
Alligators have become the unofficial mascot of Florida.
These large reptiles are known for their nasty disposition when they are handled by humans.
Alligators can weigh 1,000 pounds and have razor-sharp teeth with one of the strongest bites in nature.
But that did not stop one Florida man from using one as his traveling companion when he went to pick up more beer.
Surveillance video from a Jacksonville convenience store showed Robby Stratton carrying an alligator in his right arm with the reptile’s mouth taped shut.
Stratton, on his way to Florida Man Hall of Fame status, ran through the store in what was the shock of a lifetime to the clerk.
“Ya’ll ain’t out of beer are you?” Stratton asked, walking toward the counter with the alligator.
He spotted someone in the back of the store grabbing some beer.
“Is he taking the last bit of beer?” Stratton asked the person at the back. “You aren’t taking the last bit of beer are you?”
Stratton charged toward the back of the store toward the beer section with the alligator in tow.
He proceeds to walk into the beer cave and grabs a 12-pack of Busch Light.
Strolling up to the counter to pay for the beer he chanted, “go gators.”
Surprisingly, the other customers in the store did not seem terrified that a man was carrying an alligator.
One of the shoppers asked him to put it on the counter so he could take a picture with it.

Florida man explains why he took an alligator on a beer run
Stratton managed to get his beer without himself or anyone in the store being harmed by a live alligator.
But that is where his good luck ran out.
Officials with the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission began investigating the incident after a video of it went viral on social media and was picked up by the local news.
Stratton was interviewed by a local news station after the beer run and asked why he decided to carry an alligator into the store.
“No recollection of that happening at all?” a reporter asked him.
“At all,” Stratton replied. “This store sells some good liquor and I drank a lot of it that night.”
He had no clue where the alligator came from and claimed he found it in the back of a truck.
“I don’t even remember coming up here,” Stratton said. “They told me what I did was stupid, and I’ll be facing some charges here soon. I’ll probably go to jail, probably not.”
Stratton and his friend Kevin Scott Keene, who recorded the incident, were arrested for illegal possession of an alligator and illegal exhibition of dangerous wildlife and cruelty to animals.
Clearly he was on a bender that would put a rock star to shame if he could not remember how he came across an alligator or why he toted it around like a football.
