In the thick of the Israel-Hamas war protests at the University of Chicago on Friday, the Chicago Thinker’s Mitchell Robson appeared on The Dan Bongino Show to discuss the violence he experienced while defending the American flag.
Speaking to former Fox News host Dan Bongino and Thinker co-founder Evita Duffy-Alfonso, Robson talked about his nuanced views on the ongoing protests and addressed the encampment, saying “The reason I am so categorically against this encampment and the encampments at many other schools is because, frankly, it has only a tangential connection to the conflict.”
He highlighted specific instances of aggressive behavior by some pro-Palestine protesters, remarking, “They blocked us, pushed us, punched us, and ripped our flags.” Robson, a senior at University of Chicago, continued, “They’re calling for intifadas.”
Robson also criticizes the intersectional cause he claims the protest has rolled into. He argues, “Because they don’t know much about the conflict, they’re really just co-opting this issue just like they co-opted the death of George Floyd, just like they co-opt environmentalism, and all these other issues du jour. They co-opt them and apply malice, fear, and intimidation tactics to get their way.”
