Democratic Representative Henry Cuellar of Texas has gotten himself into a bit of trouble.
So much trouble, in fact, that even former New York Republican Representative George Santos has chimed in.
Cuellar and his wife have been indicted.
The charges surround the pair allegedly accepting over half a million dollars in bribes. The bribery charges are also accompanied by money laundering charges.
Now, Santos, who was expelled from Congress, has gone ballistic on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter, where he demanded action from New York Representative Richie Torres.
“Hey @RitchieTorres are you going to draft an expulsion resolution for Henry Cuellar? Or is that just for republicans who flip seats? Inquiring minds want to know,” Santos tweeted after the news of the charges hit the internet.
Santos did not stop there.
He soon after launched another post demanding action from California Representative Robert Garcia.
“So here’s the thing… is miss thang @RepRobertGarcia going to draft an expulsion resolution for Henry Cuellar? Inquiring minds want to know,” Santos wrote.
The Department of Justice has also released a statement on the recent indictment of Cuellar.
“The bribe payments were allegedly laundered, pursuant to sham consulting contracts, through a series of front companies and middlemen into shell companies owned by Imelda Cuellar, who performed little to no legitimate work under the contracts,” they said in the press release.
Cuellar provided a brief statement on the allegations, saying that “both my wife and I are innocent of these allegations. Everything I have done in Congress has been to serve the people of South Texas.”
Santos, who was expelled not long ago, has without a doubt been waiting for a moment like this.
Will Congress expel Cuellar like the expelled Santos?
