Over the past month, loud and sometimes violent anti-Israel demonstrations have broken out on college campuses across America.
While some in his party have supported the disorder, Pennsylvania Democratic Sen. John Fetterman is breaking ranks with them.
Fetterman condemns the “germ of antisemitism in all of these protests”
According to Breitbart, Fetterman slammed the creation of illegal encampments by protestors during an interview this past weekend with NewsNation host Chris Stirewalt.
“It’s a great American value to protest, but I don’t believe living in a pup tent for Hamas is really helpful,” @JohnFetterman, D-Pa., told NewsNation’s Chris Stirewalt on #TheHillSunday as he addressed the increase of pro-Palestinian protests on college campuses. pic.twitter.com/elhIQepmm5

“It’s a great American value to protest, but I don’t believe living in a pup tent for Hamas is really helpful,” Fetterman said, referring to the Iranian-back terror group which murdered some 1,400 people in an attack this past fall.
The senator complained that there is a “germ of antisemitism in all of these protests and then sometimes it flares up,” citing Columbia student Khymani James.
James helped to organize an encampment at the Ivy League college, and video footage later emerged of him expressing a desire to kill Zionists.
Far-left House members visited Columbia
“One of the leaders in Columbia said some just awful things talking about, ‘Well, they’re lucky I’m not killing Zionists,’ and things like that,” Fetterman remarked.
“And, then he defended himself by saying, ‘Well, those were taken out of context,’ and I’m like, well those are very similar to the way the college presidents, same kind of language,” the senator added.
Fetterman’s stance makes for a sharp contrast with that taken by members of “The Squad,” a collection of far-left House Democrats.
Fox News reported that members of the group visited Columbia last week to show solidarity with anti-Israel demonstrators.
Chants endorse violence by Hamas
This was despite the use of violent chants, such as “Hamas, we love you. We support your rockets, too!” and “We say justice, you say how. Burn Tel Aviv to the ground!”
New York Democratic Rep. Alexandria Ocassio-Cortez slammed Columbia’s decision to have law enforcement arrest protest participants, calling it “a heinous failure of leadership.”
Breitbart noted how in addition Columbia, similar demonstrations have been seen at the University of California Los Angeles, Harvard University, George Washington University, the University of North Carolina, and the University of Pennsylvania.
