Dozens of pro- Palestinian protesters were arrested Monday by state troopers at the University of Texas, Austin, after students and outside demonstrators moved to occupy a quad near a tower that houses campus administration.
The protests at the school started last week and resulted then in dozens of demonstrators being arrested and charged with misdemeanor trespassing. The charges were later dropped due to insufficient evidence.
The arrests on Monday come after school officials and Gov. Greg Abbott warned protesters that arrests would occur if they did not vacate the premises. Campus police also issued a dispersal order on Monday, warning students that they were violating multiple sections of Texas’ Penal Code.
