The Biden administration is about to lose yet another cabinet member.
Rumors are blowing up that Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Xavier Becerra is getting ready to leave.
The report first surfaced on Politico, and it has been blowing up ever since.
Time to Go
The rumors started to fly because Becerra’s old state committee was making payments categorized as “consulting” work.
When the Biden administration was asked about the payments, a staffer said they were unaware of Becerra spending any money on “campaign consultants.”
When Becerra was asked about the report, he responded, “I am secretary of HHS and, by law, I have to be secretary of HHS and nothing else.
“So I’m gonna do my job as best I can.”
While many Democrats have stated they believe Biden will bring Becerra back if he wins a second term, there are insiders who would be delighted to see him leave.
Domestic Policy Adviser Susan Rice is one of his detractors who has some significant weight in the Biden administration, and she is not alone.
In a report from earlier this year, Axios reported that Rice has called Becerra an “idiot” behind closed doors.
Republicans have targeted Becerra from the outset because he has been using COVID to circumvent Congress and push some rather radical policies that have been embraced by Biden and far-left Democrats.
Over and above that, Becerra has been hammered for how he has handled migrant children’s cases.
For instance, it has been questioned whether Becerra is properly vetting sponsors and tracking where these children are after they leave the government’s care.
Becerra has also been the architect of refugee resettlement from the disastrous Afghanistan withdrawal that took place not long after Joe Biden took office.
Hopefully, the rumors are true, and Becerra will be gone. Then, we only need to get rid of Mayorkas, Blinken, Cardona, and Garland.
Or perhaps we can just vote them all out of office in November and be done with them all!
