Far-left protests on college campuses have spiraled out of control.
But there was a major miscalculation.
And Glenn Beck just dropped the hammer over one sick attack on Christians.
The Right called out far-left radicalism on college campuses decades ago, but nobody listened.
Now, everyone is paying attention as some of the most privileged institutions in America have descended into utter chaos.
In response to the war in Gaza, not only have some protesters chanted horrific antisemitic slogans, they have also shouted, “Death to America.”
The correct response is to protect free speech and arrest people who break the law, which has been happening on some college campuses.
But Congress went too far.
Bad response
The House just passed the Antisemitism Awareness Act, which was approved with a vote of 320-91.
While antisemitism is ugly, the bill is overbroad and would potentially outlaw parts of the Bible.
Conservative commentator Glenn Beck spoke out against the bill on free speech grounds.
He explained, “I am dead set against this, and you should be too. Something can be legally permissible and morally repulsive at the same time. Speech needs to be protected, not the stuff we all agree on, but the stuff we don’t agree on.”
I’ve been accused of defending Jews too much, so it might seem weird that I’m dead set AGAINST the House’s “antisemitism” bill. But this is actually a HATE SPEECH bill that gives more power to Biden’s bureaucracy. Only God — not government — can fix human hearts. pic.twitter.com/XFNUQFI6gF

The bill uses the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance’s (IHRA) definition of antisemitism, which would make New Testament scripture a violation of Civil Rights law on college campuses.
Scripture outlawed
For example, saying “claims of Jews killing Jesus” is included in the IHRA definition.
Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) wrote on Twitter, “This evening, I will vote AGAINST the ridiculous hate speech bill. . .Antisemitism is wrong, but this legislation is written without regard for the Constitution, common sense, or even the common understanding of the meaning of words. The Gospel itself would meet the definition of antisemitism under the terms of this bill!”
Gaetz then quoted Acts 4:10: “Be it known to you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom you crucified, whom God raised from the dead, by him this man is standing before you well.”
Secular leftists would have no issue with the Bible being banned, but even some of them acknowledge that the bill is miscalibrated.
The IHRA definition of antisemitism also includes “[d]rawing comparisons of contemporary Israeli policy to that of the Nazis,” which is nonsensical considering how often Democrats and their media allies call Republicans Nazis.
Any time Republicans pass a bill, Democrats roll out Nazi comparisons.
The bill now moves to the Senate, which would be a disastrous development for free speech if passed.
