As President Joe Biden navigates his duties, aspects of aging are beginning to influence his performance, despite the efforts of the White House to hide Biden’s problems.
Geriatrician Daniel J. Stone wrote an opinion piece for the Los Angeles Times examining President Biden’s cognitive abilities and illustrated the differences between typical age-related memory impairments and more severe conditions like Alzheimer’s.
He wrote that memory consists of three essential functions: formation, storage, and retrieval. As we age, these functions often experience mild impairments, which can begin as early as the 30s.
This progression is slow and usually manifests as occasional difficulties in retrieving names or terms, commonly experienced as the “tip of the tongue” phenomenon.
The Nuances Of Aging: Not All Memory Issues Are Alarming
Stone pointed out that Alzheimer’s disease involves more severe memory issues, primarily affecting the ability to form new memories and progressively worsening both cognitive and physical capacities. Contrastingly, the typical aging process involves less critical changes that do not profoundly impact daily functioning or cognitive abilities.
President Biden, at 81, exemplifies a public figure managing mild, age-related memory impairments. Observers note that he continues to reference recent events and effectively form new memories, indicating his cognitive issues are not severe.
The President has battled a stutter throughout his life, a detail often overlooked when evaluating his public speaking. This lifelong challenge can exacerbate moments of hesitancy in speech, which are mistakenly attributed to cognitive decline. “Unfortunately, word hesitations coupled with the mild stutter can’t help but affect his public speaking,” one expert remarks, highlighting the misconception this creates.
Of course, while Stone’s opinion is valuable, it’s important to remember that the public is very much being kept in the dark about Biden’s true state.
Experience Over Expediency: The Value Of Wisdom
Stone pointed to examples such as a 96-year-old active lawyer named Melvin Spears. Spears, who still offers sharp legal advice despite age-related physical limits, serves as an example similar to Biden in utilizing experience to compensate for age-related slow-down.
“He speaks more slowly, and transportation is a challenge because he’s stopped driving. (He considers Uber and Lyft ‘a hassle,’)” says Spears, demonstrating adaptability despite limitations.
Recently, President Biden underwent a thorough physical examination at the Walter Reed Military Medical Center, where he was declared “healthy, active, and fit for duty.”
Stone argues that at his current age, Biden’s life expectancy could see him well into further years of service, possibly extending beyond a second presidential term.
Of course, that take is completely insane as Biden has surpassed the average life expectancy by a significant margin and doesn’t exhibit any kind of sharpness or spry behavior. It appears that Stone is leveraging his credentials to make a point that any regular American knows is impossibly wrong.
Many Americans weren’t sure if Biden was going to make it through one term, let alone two. It would be a miracle if Biden can survive another four years of the most demanding job in America.
Biden’s Age A Serious Worry
Despite the claims of experts like Stone, the evidence of our eyes tells us that Biden is extremely old and frail. The White House’s tight leash on him further proves that Biden is not capable of acting on his own without careful oversight.
Democrats are desperately trying to gaslight Americans into ignoring these obvious facts while simultaneously hiding Biden from the public and keeping him on a script for the few appearances he does have.
In conclusion, while Stone makes fair points that are informed by his extensive expertise, his failure to acknowledge Biden’s objective decline casts his objectivity into serious doubt. Biden is a geriatric in every sense of the word and there needs to be serious discussions about elder abuse.
