A Democratic senator’s attempt to rewrite history on inflation paid no heed to his own campaign’s corporate backing.
As with President Joe Biden’s attempt to gaslight over his responsibility for the border crisis by passing the buck onto Republicans, after his administration’s opening years downplayed inflation, corporations were now taking the brunt of the fault for his devastating decisions.
In a propaganda-packaged move to further serve the Marxist ends of the left that long to see the seizure of the means of production, Pennsylvania Sen. Bob Casey (D) helped Biden advance his narrative that corporate “greedflation” was behind the dwindling buying power of the American dollar.
However, according to a review of donor records conducted by Fox News Digital, while the commonwealth’s senior senator skewered businesses over shrinkflation, his campaign continued to collect through their affiliated political action committees (PACs).
One advertisement promoted by Casey’s campaign featured men in business suits covertly entering a grocery store like burglars only to replace products with smaller packages marked at the same prices.
While he griped about the “same packaging, smaller box, familiar logo, fewer servings” for cereal products, since 2017 Fox News Digital indicated that $16,000 had been contributed by PACs tied to Kellogg’s.
Similarly, complaints over an uptick in the price of chicken by 35% didn’t deter Casey’s campaign from accepting $9,000 in donations since 2017 from a PAC representing Cargill Inc., the largest producer of poultry in the country.
Likewise, Charmin toilet paper’s parent company Procter & Gamble’s PAC saw $15,500 contributed to Casey’s campaign over the same period while a campaign ad in April railed about the product price ticking up 10%, spelling out $100 million in increased profits for the “big corporations.”
“Bob Casey calls it greedflation, and he’s fighting back,” promoted the campaign while he himself said, “My plan gives the Federal Trade Commission the power to punish corporate price gouging. Let’s roll back their huge tax breaks to put money where it belongs, in your pocket.”
According to the senator’s February release on the so-called Shrinkflation Prevention Act, “Corporations are trying to pull the wool over our eyes by shrinking their products without reducing their prices–anyone on a tight budget sees it every time they go to the grocery store. Pennsylvania families are sick and tired of digging deeper into their wallets for their weekly grocery runs while corporate CEOs laugh all the way to the bank. I’m fighting to crack down on shrinkflation and hold corporations accountable for these deceptive practices.”
The bill, with co-sponsors that included Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D) and Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders (I), sought to authorize the Federal Trade Commission to prevent manufacturers from engaging in practices that would be deemed shrinkflation
In other words, leftists want the federal government to force companies to suffer losses to conceal the harmful impact their policies have on the economy — a move that, like minimum wage hikes, would likely result in further job losses for low- and middle-income earners.
When asked by Fox News Digital if Casey’s campaign would return the corporate PAC contributions on account of his position on their “greedflation,” spokesperson Maddy McDaniels told the outlet, “Bob Casey is an independent fighter who will always stand up for working people against corporate greed and companies ripping off Pennsylvanians.”
Meanwhile, those who saw the ad weren’t buying the Democrat’s election year sales pitch as social media users singled it out as “textbook deflection.”
This is textbook deflection. You’re blaming corporations for poor governmental leadership.

Mostly the fault of the deceptive government.

Of everything going on right now, you want your legacy to be that you stood up to a cereal company? I’m sure your name will go down in history.
