Another House campaign has ended. This time, however, it is a campaign that should never have been launched.
Disgraced former Rep. George Santos (R-N.Y.), who was removed from the House by Republicans, has finally decided to suspend his campaign.
Santos decided to run as an independent, apparently thinking that the American people had as much sympathy for him as they do Trump… but he could not have been more wrong.
Time to Go
Santos made a mockery of our political system from the moment he announced his campaign during the 2022 cycle.
The man made up his entire resume, then tried to justify it by saying that all politicians lie.
When the facts about his experience were made public, local party officials demanded he resign, but he refused.
He was eventually investigated by the House Ethics Committee as well as facing a criminal investigation for fraud and campaign finance violations.
After raising zero campaign dollars in March, Santos finally received the message that he was no longer wanted.
Even so, he decided to slap himself on the back in his announcement, suggesting that running as an independent would have guaranteed the Democrats a win in November.
He stated, “I don’t want my run to be portrayed as reprisal against Nick Lalota… Although Nick and I don’t have the same voting record and I remain critical of his abysmal record, I don’t want to split the ticket and be responsible for handing the house to Dems.
“Staying in this race all but guarantees a victory for the Democrats in the race…”
Uhm, George, you raised ZERO campaign dollars and you probably would have had the same number of votes had you stayed in the election, so trust me, you were not going to split the ticket.
You are a complete and utter fraud and it is an embarrassment to the conservative movement that you were elected in the first place.
Please, just go away.
