Amid an ongoing investigation into the death of his wife, a South Carolina pastor has been relieved of his duties at a Horry County church.
According to FOX 28 Savannah, members of the Solid Rock Church in Market Common received notice on Sunday that Pastor John-Paul Miller has been released from all ministerial responsibilities.
The church’s website has been taken down, with a message that reads, “for a time of healing, counsel, and guidance, pursuant to our governing instrument.”
As CrimeOnline previously reported, his wife, Mica Miller, 30, was shot and killed at Lumber River State Park in Lumberton last week. On Thursday, Roberson County police confirmed they are investigating her death, but Miller claimed she killed herself.
Investigators have not yet released a cause of death.
Citing court records, the New York Post reported that Mica Miller filed for divorce in October 2023. According to The Robesonian, her family is claiming she also sought a no-contact order days before her death.
On Sunday, friends and family gathered for a rally outside Solid Rock Church, advocating for justice for Mica. Mica’s family also conducted a memorial service Sunday afternoon, while her estranged husband hosted another service at Solid Rock Church.
NewsNation Now reports that hundreds rallied outside the church while demanding justice for Miller.
“I came out today to support her, to support her family, to support her story because her story is important and it needs to be heard,” one of the attendees said.
The story is developing. Check back for updates.
