Adult film star Stormy Daniels finally took the stand in the Donald Trump hush-money case this week.
While she was on the stand speaking, Donald Trump was visibly upset.
With Daniels seemingly brought there more to give details of their alleged affair than the hush-money details, Trump’s attorneys immediately filed a motion for a mistrial.
What Is Going On
Daniels went into significant details about her affair with Trump, some of which were not consistent with the story Daniels had told to this point.
For instance, at one point, she talks about Trump having stripped down to his boxers when she came out of the bathroom, but she had posted numerous times on social media about Trump wearing “tighty whiteys” on social media.
It may sound like a small detail, but it does show that she was either making things up then or now.
She also portrayed Trump as someone who was using his power in order to get Daniels to sleep with him, again, not consistent with other stories that she has told.
Trump’s attorneys were livid over the details prosecutors pulled from Daniels, with Trump attorney Todd Blanche telling the media, “The guardrails for this witness answering questions from the government were just thrown to the side.”
I believe Blanche was dead on with his assessment that the questions asked of Daniels by prosecutors were meant to “inflame the jury.”
Bragg’s office knows that if they can make Trump look like a dirtball, it will be much easier for the jury to convict.
Blanche added, “We believe there should be a mistrial. Or that this witness’s testimony is excluded and extremely limited.”
The motion for a mistrial was denied by Judge Merchan, but Merchan did concede that some things were said that would have been far better had the jury not heard them.
This now makes me think more than ever that if Trump is convicted by this jury, the decision will be overturned on appeal.
That, however, likely means nothing to Melania Trump, who now has to again hear the details of a sordid alleged affair that Trump had while she was pregnant with Barron.
