The Biden campaign issued a list of conditions before making public his cringe “make my day, pal” video Wednesday and finally agreeing to debate Donald Trump.
As we highlighted, Biden claimed that Trump “hasn’t shown up for any” debates, despite the fact that Trump has been asking to get them started for months.
He also couldn’t manage to make a 14 second video without 5 or 6 edits in it, prompting many to ask how on Earth he expects to be coherent throughout a two hour debate.
Now it has emerged that Biden’s campaign has issued strict conditions for the debate.
The campaign says there must be no live audience and Trump’s mic must be muted when Biden is talking.
They also stipulated that Robert F. Kennedy Jr. cannot take part, and that the moderators have to be from CBS, ABC, CNN or Telemundo ONLY.
RFK was not happy:
“Make my day” indeed.
Trump has said he will participate in a third debate hosted by Fox News in October, but it is unclear if Biden’s campaign will accept, because Fox isn’t on the list of ‘approved’ moderators.
Trump made the announcement on Truth Social, writing “Please let this TRUTH serve to represent that I hereby accept debating Crooked Joe Biden on FoxNews. The date will be Wednesday, October 2nd. The Hosts will be Bret Baier and Martha MacCallum. Thank you, DJT!”
Trump’s campaign issued a statement calling for more debates, noting “We believe there should be more than just two opportunities for the American people to hear more from the candidates themselves.”
They added, “With the soaring inflation of Bidenomics costing America’s hardworking families at the grocery store and at the gas pump, with our border being totally overrun, with chaos at home, chaos across the world, chaos on our college campuses, we should have one debate per month.”
“Therefore, we propose a debate in June, a debate in July, a debate in August, and a debate in September, in addition to the Vice Presidential debate,” the Trump campaign continued, adding “Additional dates will allow voters to have maximum exposure to the records and future visions of each candidate.”
The Biden campaign later had the gall to accuse Trump of “playing games” by accepting the third debate invitation.
Jen O’Malley Dillon, chair of Biden’s re-election campaign stated “Donald Trump has a long history of playing games with debates: complaining about the rules, breaking those rules, pulling out at the last minute, or not showing up at all – which he’s done repeatedly in all three cycles he’s run for president.”
“He said he would debate President Biden anytime, anywhere, anyplace. In fact, he’s said and posted it dozens of times with varying degrees of comprehension and basic grammar,” O’Malley jibed, adding “President Biden made his terms clear for two one-on-one debates, and Donald Trump accepted those terms. No more games. No more chaos, no more debate about debates. We’ll see Donald Trump on June 27th in Atlanta – if he shows up.”
Why does Biden get to set all the rules? Then his campaign accuses Trump of playing games? Seriously?
Biden’s campaign has also refused to take part in a series of debates planned by the non-profit Commission on Presidential Debates.
But CNN is sure to be unbiased right?
Some have noted that the stipulation of muting the mics may backfire for Biden, however, given that the more he talks the more he exposes his obvious cognitive decline.
Word is that Democrats are worried Biden’s handlers have panicked and called debates after NYT/Siena College polling published on Monday revealed Trump is beating Biden by 13% with likely Nevada voters, 9% in Georgia, 6% in Arizona, 3% in Pennsylvania and 1% in Wisconsin.
Even Nancy Pelosi is saying Biden shouldn’t do it:
