Senator John Fetterman (D-Pa.) continues to be far and away the most sensible member of his party, a man transformed since his treatment for clinical depression last year.
Having emerged as an old-school liberal of the type that is extinct among today’s extremist Democrats, Fetterman has been unapologetically pro-Israel in a party chock full of antisemites, and he once again hit the mark with his take on the campus protests.
A refusal by the terrorist fan club in the Democrat caucus to condemn the hatred on campus has only emboldened the protesters and, unlike his fellow lawmakers, the hoodie-clad everyman isn’t holding back when it comes to calling a spade a spade.
Sen. @JohnFetterman (D-PA): “The protesters at Columbia demonstrated that there are two factions of the protesters — there’s the pro-Hamas, and then there’s the really pro-Hamas.”https://t.co/FIcwvjBLD1

“The protesters at Columbia demonstrated that there are two factions of the protesters — there’s the pro-Hamas, and then there’s the really pro-Hamas,” Fetterman told the online news outlet Semafor, adding that he was “glad that they chose to have the police come in and take charge.”
After a lack of leadership on behalf of political and university leaders allowed an ugly situation to fester for weeks and then spread across the country, police were finally given the go-ahead to bust up the Hamas tent cities that have popped up like mushrooms, with law enforcement asserting itself at both Columbia University and UCLA over the last few days.

Fetterman’s remarks are part of a larger article about Democrats squabbling over Israel, a split that was inevitable when Nancy Pelosi welcomed the Jew-haters of “The Squad” into the party’s big tent with the mouthy progressives carrying the virus of antisemitism along with them. Now its embedded – possibly permanently – in the party’s DNA.
One of the Democrats quoted by Semafor is notorious hothead and fire-alarm puller Rep. Jamaal Bowman (D-NY) who had the railed about police brutality toward the campus anti-Semites during a House floor speech this week. And of course, he also made it about race, just as they always do.
When I was 11, I was a victim of police brutality just for being Black in America. Now I see that brutality being inflicted on peaceful students at Columbia and across the country.

Earlier this week, the senator zinged the protesters.
“Now, of course, it’s a great American value to protest, but I don’t believe living in a pup tent for Hamas is really helpful,” Fetterman said during an appearance on NewsNation.

Some Democrats are getting jittery about the optics problem of their base’s antisemitic tantrums and that it could be a turnoff to crucial swing voters.
“I’m an anxious little Jewish woman, I’m an anxious little dyke from Vermont, of course I’m worried,” Rep. Becca Balint (D-Vt.) said, according to Semafor. “How can I not be worried? Frickin’ Trump is a freaking maniac and he’s like neck and neck. Of course I’m worried. I’m anxious all the time.”
