President Joe Biden’s campaign is seeking to reduce his time in the spotlight, and Republicans find that to be quite telling.
“As President Joe Biden ramps up his re-election effort, his campaign is also scaling back how much he says on the trail, part of a larger new strategy to hone a sharper message he’ll take into the general election,” according to a new NBC News report.
“The less-is-more approach aims for quality over quantity when it comes to the president’s public appearances,” the report continues.
In other words, they intend to put him back in the basement save for occasional “stump” speeches that TJ Ducklo, the campaign’s senior adviser for communications, has promised will be short.
“There’s a strategic advantage at this point in the race to boiling down your message to the three or four most salient, compelling arguments for why President Biden should be re-elected,” he told NBC News. “That will often translate to the stump [speech] being whittled down to its sharpest, most dynamic form. That’s what you’re seeing.”
NBC reports Biden’s handlers are “looking to shorten his speeches” to limit his public displays of cognitive decline.

NBC News, to its credit, admits the real reason for all this.
“The approach also has the appearance of a strategy aimed at minimizing the potential for Biden to make mistakes in a razor-close election,” its report continues. “Some of Biden’s verbal missteps have occurred when he’s talking at length, veers off the prepared text or answers a reporter’s question when that wasn’t part of the plan.”
And there it is: The campaign is desperately trying to prevent the gaffe master from gaffing further.
Not surprisingly, this decision comes a few weeks after the president gaffed while trying to blame former President Donald Trump for all the abortion bans cropping up across the country.
“Let’s be real clear: There’s one person responsible for this nightmare, and he’s acknowledged and he brags about it: Donald Trump,” the president said at a campaign event in Florida.
“Folks, in a sense, I don’t know why we’re surprised by Trump. How many times does he have to prove we can’t be trusted?” he added.
He obviously meant to say “How many times does he [Trump] have to prove HE can’t be trusted” but screwed up in typical Biden fashion.
But there’s more.
“Shorter, crisper remarks from Biden are part of his campaign’s broader strategy of having him appear more in smaller settings that the president’s aides believe serve him better than large, traditional rallies with voters,” according to NBC News.
This also makes perfect sense given that large venues make his lack of support among the American people that much clearer.

Meanwhile, some of the president’s advisers have reportedly been urging him to scrap prepared campaign speeches altogether “in favor of less scripted retail stops and punchier, digital content where he speaks directly to the camera,” according to NBC News.
“That dramatic shift hasn’t happened, but aides say the idea has been discussed as the campaign tries to find ways to reach an unsettled electorate that consumes information differently than in previous cycles. Discussing the idea is also a reflection, aides say, of how much harder it is to get — and keep — voters’ attention,” the report continues.
Responding to all this, Republican voters had thoughts.
Look:
Why don’t they put some strings on him, pre-record a speech and move his mouth. He is such an embarrassment to the country.

So now it’ll just be the song Hail to the Chief and a wave from President Magoo and then back to bed. It really Can’t hurt to keep his babble to a minimum.

I guess they could just have him reading his instructions and no speeches. He’d just read. “You’re done here, Joe, you can leave the stage. Leave now. Turn and leave now. LEAVE!”

It’s a campaign strategy that purposely excludes Biden. At this point Biden’s campaign is a combination of his surrogates, other politicians, TikTok influencers, Hollywood, & state run Fake News media. All designed to keep Biden in the “basement” while still in plain sight.
