A missing Indiana teenager was found Wednesday morning when state police raided his parents home.
The parents, Daniel and Kristen Muir, were arrested on obstruction of justice charges, and Bryson Muir was released into the custody of the Cass County Department of Child Services, WLFI reported.
Daniel Muir, a former defensive back for the Indianapolis Colts, was also charged with domestic battery.
Indiana State Police asked for help finding young Bryson late last month, as CrimeOnline reported. He had been last seen on June 16 leaving his grandmother’s home in Ohio in the company of his mother. Shortly afterward, police pulled over the mother’s vehicle, but Bryson wasn’t there.
Two days later, Cass County officials asked state police to investigate allegations of abuse at the Muir home in Logansport.
Investigators eventually contacted the Muirs, who were scheduled to meet with detectives last Friday but backed out of the meeting. A state police SWAT team raided the Logansport house at about 6 a.m. and found the boy.
Daniel Muir, who played football professionally for four years, is reportedly a member of an extremist religious organization called Straitway Truth Ministry, the Indianapolis Star reported. The organization, which includes a number of ex-NFL players, claims to be “a nation of Hebrew Israelites (translated in the KJV as Jews) who are commandment keepers; obedient to Yah (God) & our savior, Jesus the Christ.”
