Well, that did not take long.
Russian President Vladimir Putin was clearly sending a message of displeasure after Germany and the United States promised to load up Ukraine with some high-tech tanks.
On Thursday, Kyiv and other Ukrainian cities were crushed by yet another massive salvo of missiles from Russia.
The attack happened roughly 24 hours after the pledge of more aid for Ukraine came from NATO countries.
Not Having It
The attack appeared to be times specifically to do the most damage to civilians.
Just as Ukrainians were headed to work the missiles started to land. Even with the large attack, civilian casualties were kept to a minimum. So far, only one death was reported and two injuries were reported in Ukraine.
In the Zaporizhzhia province, three people were reportedly killed and three seven more injured. Throughout the entire country, there were a total of at least 11 deaths reported.
The missile defense systems that were sent to Ukraine are preventing these numbers from being much worse.
Ukraine stated that it had shot down 24 drones, 15 of them that were aimed at Kyiv, as well as 47 of the 55 missiles that had been launched by Russia.
Russia was successful in taking out an electric substation, as it continues to target Ukrainian energy supplies in the winter months to try to break the people of Ukraine.
In addition to the tanks that were promised by the United States, additional heavy equipment was promised by Britain, Poland, the Netherlands, and Sweden.
President Volodymyr Zelensky stated, “The key now is speed and volumes. Speed in training our forces, speed in supplying tanks to Ukraine. The numbers in tank support.”
Between the United States and Germany, Ukraine will have 45 shiny new tanks to use, when they finally arrive.
After Biden made the promise, the Pentagon revealed it will take months to fulfill the order because we do not have the tanks in storage. I guess we can add tanks to the supplies that Biden has drained to defend Ukraine while we get dangerously close to being unable to defend this country.
