During his Martin Luther King Jr. Day speech, Democrat President Brain-Dead Biden oddly attacked Americans’ Second Amendment rights, vowing to ban “assault weapons” and telling Americans they would need military jets to defend themselves against the federal government.
“There is no social redeeming value [to assault weapons],” Biden said.
“Deer aren’t wearing kevlar vests out there, what the hell do you need an assault– no I’m serious,” he continued. “And ban the number of bullets that go in a magazine. There’s no, no need for any of that.”
The main purpose for Second Amendment protections is for the American people to be able to defend themselves against the federal government, which Biden went on to address by warning that Americans would not be able to defend themselves with “an AR-15” and instead would “need some F-15s.”
“If you need to worry about taking on the federal government, you need some F-15s,” Biden said, referencing the military jet. “You don’t need an AR-15.”
“I’m serious, think about it. Think about the rationale for this. It’s about money,” he added.
“I’m going to get assault weapons banned. I did it once, I’m going to do it again,” Biden vowed, referring to the notoriously ineffective 1994 Federal Assault Weapons Ban.
The 1994 Federal Assault Weapons ban was in place from 1994-2004, and had virtually no effect on firearm homicide rates, according to a 2014 study. In fact, the study found that “murder rates were 19.3% higher when the Federal ban was in effect.”
Notably, Biden’s argument that Americans would be unable to defend their rights against the federal government was an argument James Madison, a Founding Father and the fourth President of the United States, warned against using in Federalist 46.
“Let us not insult the free and gallant citizens of America with the suspicion, that they would be less able to defend the rights of which they would be in actual possession, than the debased subjects of arbitrary power would be to rescue theirs from the hands of their oppressors,” he wrote.
Madison went on to explain that the purpose of the Second Amendment was to ensure the American people would have the power to defend themselves against the federal government. He explains, “a standing army can be carried in any country, does not exceed one hundredth part of the whole number of souls; or one twenty-fifth part of the number able to bear arms.” He added that Americans have “the advantage of being armed,” compared to the people of other nations.
